At the signing ceremony, Jiangsu Suqing Water Treatment Engineering Group Co., Ltd. sold the right to use 144,600 tons of water resources saved through water conservation renovation to five water-demanding enterprises. The proceeds will be reinvested back into the company. It is understood that the total transaction amount reached 131,800 yuan, making it the water rights transaction with the highest number of deals and the largest single transaction volume in Wuxi. Jiang Yuefeng, General Manager of Jiangsu Suqing Water Treatment Engineering Group Co., Ltd., said that the company actively responded to the call for water conservation and successfully established a provincial-level water-saving enterprise in 2018. Equipped with large cooling water and rainwater recycling pools, the company has achieved a water resource reuse rate of over 80%, saving approximately 200,000 tons of water annually.
Following the implementation of the city's first water rights transaction in 2022, Jiangyin has actively promoted reforms in water rights trading. As of now, the city has completed seven water rights transactions. From "water resources" to "water assets", water rights trading not only incentivizes enterprises to promote water conservation and emission reduction but also addresses the water use difficulties of water purchasing enterprises. This has further improved the alignment between the city's water resource allocation and economic development layout, maximizing the benefits of limited water resources. "Next, the Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau will further expand the scale of water rights trading, actively explore various types of water rights trading, strengthen policy publicity and guidance, and provide standardized, safe, and efficient services to help enterprises solve water use problems. At the same time, we will actively promote the establishment of water-saving enterprises, increase policy, technical, and financial support, and leverage water-saving enterprises as a fulcrum and water rights trading as a path to comprehensively promote the effective protection, efficient conservation, and scientific utilization of water resources," said Sun Jian, Deputy Director of the Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau.
